Hello Good People,
Today is the 1st anniversary of Blogletter! 🥳One year of writing here on Substack, which makes me really proud, starting the blog/newsletter was one of the best decisions I've made in 2022.
On average I wrote 1 letter per month, and now I count 100 subscribers (what?!), still sounds surreal because I'm not an illustrator, not a writer, just a common person who likes to draw, play with art materials, and that sometimes writes about those experiences, thoughts and art dilemmas!
Probably not all my subscribers read all my letters, but the simple act of subscribing is always a way of support. Thank you ALL, and an extra virtual hug for those who like and comment my letters, I know YOU.❤️
Today is also the perfect day to announce a challenge I will do next year, after a deepest reflection I decided not to name it challenge but PROJECT. Words have weight, and this project is meant to be fun not anyhow a vehicle of pressure.
The project will be called 262 ArT Days and I will be offering it for paid subscribers. You can find all the details about the project below, if you are not interested please skip to the last two paragraphs.
What is it?
It's an year long project, which aims of creating an art daily habit, it will count exactly 262 days. Weekends off, because breaks are more important that we usually think!
Who is it intended for?
Everyone. In particular people who want to begin/maintain a creative daily habit and/or art beginners.
What will be included?
- A calendar each month with daily prompts (word or phrase)
- 2 time-lapses drawings per month from the daily prompts
- A colour palette video per month
- Pinterest board with image references (in case you need a bit of inspiration)
- Subscribers only chat
Sometimes we often lose more time trying to decide what to draw* than actually doing it! Hence the calendar of prompts is here to help, each day there's a word or phrase prompt to help you keeping creating right away.
*You can draw, paint, doodle, do rough sketches, you do whatever you like the most in the medium(s) of your choice.
A few people which I can count by my finger's hands (not include my mother!) say that I have a good eye for colours, so my very good artist friend Joana gave me this idea: why don't you share how you pick your colour palettes?. As I love colours and a good challenge, here it is and think it's really a pretty addition for the plan.
We will have a private chat here on Substack (no need to go to another platform!) to share our creations - totally optional - talk about doubts, art materials (we all love this topic, right?), sharing ideas or just small chit-chat about artist daily life.
If you decide to join, you can share your art in Instagram (or any other social media), it's up to you. I personally will not share daily on Instagram because it has a negative impact on me and in my art, I may share some days but it will not be a priority.
How much time it will take me daily?
My initial idea is to take the project as daily warm up, but you can do your own thing. Define how much time you want to reserve for it (5min, 15min, etc) per day. We all have other deadlines-projects-daily routines on our life so choose what works best for you!
As you can see, actually there aren't strict rules on 262 ArT Days project, in fact there's only one: making some kind of art everyday. Having fun. And even so, we can fail on this one, probably we will... In that case, here we are to uplift each other.
Take note: the videos I will share are from my own experience (I'm constantly learning and I’m not here to teach anyone!) and there won't be drawing sessions, there's a lot of amazing drawing sessions out there already and would be totally out of my comfort zone. I plan to enjoy the project too :D
Why am I going paid?
Honestly, I just put a lot of effort and time (hours) thinking about this project and planning the prompt's calendar for all year.
The paid subscriptions will start in January 1st, that's also when the project starts. You can try one month and see if you like it 😊
If you are a student or someone who is facing financial issues, but really wants to join the 262 ArT Days project and you can't afford it, please send me a message.
How different is this project from other prompt lists?
The main difference is that I will be doing this with you, we will create daily without the pressure to share it online. We will do good stuff and also a lot of bad ones together and hopefully we will improve! Making things "together" often create a sense of accountability which usually tend to push us forward.
And that's it! Now that you are reading this, the 262 ArT Days project is more real than ever. Let's do (a lot of) art together in 2024.
Any question you may have just leave a comment below. Thank you.
If this is not for you, that's totally fine. Blogletter will continue the same, totally free. Expect a letter per month. The 262 ArT Days project feature is exclusive for paid subscribers.
I will send one more letter before the year ends, but it's time to wish you all Happy Holidays. Be Merry, Share Love and Enjoy your Art✨
Till the next time,
Teresa
