Hello Good People! Olá!
Looks like Spring is finally arriving here in Portugal, all the colours are blooming outside so it’s a great time to bring back Colour Week!
A bit of context for those who are new around and weren’t here last year for the first edition, the idea of creating Colour Week comes from my childhood memories. When I was in the elementary school there was a week where each day had a defined colour and all the kids were invited to wear at least a piece of clothing in the color of the day, we learned things about colour and did crafts. Probably my favourite week of the entire school year!
So mark on your calendars COLOUR WEEK will happen next week, from the 31st to 6th of April and everyone is invited!
Last year there were 6 colour families and not particular shades, this year we are going to be more specific which is a bit scary & exciting too, I’m sure we will use our creativity to face the challenge! It’s Spring Edition :)
How you can join?
Create art with the colour of the day.
You can use other colours, just try to use colour of the day in a bigger proportion!
Use the materials of your choice.
All kinds of art are welcome (drawings, illustrations, textile art, photographs, even swatching colours, etc.). You make the rules.
You don’t need to have these exact colours to join, choose the closest one from what you have!
Art challenges can be overwhelming especially daily ones, so feel free to pick just your favourite colour(s) or even just one if you can’t join the whole week, this it’s meant to be fun!
If you join please share with me :) I would love to see it and share! I will open a thread on Substack chat where we can share our art, and if you are on Instagram and would like to share there, please tag me @oficinacaracolinho!
I am thinking of doing a people drawing each day for Colour Week but not sure yet :D
Sketchbook corner
I was feeling very overwhelmed artwise last month as I wrote to you, took some time to reflect about my priorities and now I am making less art (which may be not entirely true as I am drawing almost everyday again!), but feeling much better with myself so think this is the right path for now.
On Youtube
My adventure on Youtube continues, I am having so much fun making videos (even if the editing part is so time consuming 😬) about my art journey - maybe they can inspire anyone who is starting :) also is very exciting to learn new things about filming and editing. Here’s my latest video 👇🏻
Lately I’ve been feeling the urge to buy new art supplies 😬 2025 is a low buy year for me but guess I can spoil myself a bit! Have you bought new materials lately? Tell me everything about it :)
And that’s it for March’s letter. Hope you can join me for Colour Week, let’s make a colourful week together!
Till the next time,
Teresa
Ohhh sounds exciting!! I’ll try to incorporate these colours into my collage pieces for the 100 day project!! On the topic of supplies - our art supplies shop has Holbein now and I want to buy some watercolours 😍
I will not comment on my purchases of drawing and painting materials (HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY NO TO PROMOTIONS?)
