Hi Teresa, great job! Love your thoughts about Patreon. I started my Patreon three/four month ago and I’m not sure yet what I think about it.😬🤭

Oi Teresa!

Well your vision is from the creator's side, would love to know what you think 😊 must take so much work to run a patreon! Thank you for reading Sabine ❤️

Hi Teresa! I have a short experience as a patron, just two months. Last year, I became a patron of two relatively well-known artists, and shortly after they both decided to close their Patreon accounts. Suffice it to say that I was very disappointed and since then I never supported anyone else. Maybe I should give it a new shot and start to support new artists. I will have your tips in mind! ;-)

Hello Camila :) oh I really know that feeling, that was exactly what happened when I first joined Patreon to support a portuguese artist. Well if you give it another try let me know how you feel about it. Thank you for commenting ❤️

I totally hear you, Teresa! I would love to join so many Patreons, but it becomes very time-consuming and then I feel like I have fallen behind somehow! I also tend to do better with quieter zooms/chats and find it hard to focus when people are chatting... although, if I wasn't drawing, I would love to hear everyone chat!! It is so nice to have options to downgrade or even just try an artist and then try a different one. (I have really enjoyed the peace of Beth Spencer's "Introvert Drawing Club".) Thank you for sharing your thoughts and art! :)

Exactly, it can feel overwhelming! I often get distracted when I hear people chatting and get lost in drawing 🙈 I tried Introvert Drawing Club and really like the energy/ good vibes of Beth Spencer and it was really chilled, I might re-join in the future when I feel more comfortable with drawing sessions. Thanks for reading and commenting KJ ❤️

The platform of Patreon itself I find really confusing and even more so now with the changes but I enjoy being a patron of some of the artists I love especially the ones who share more of their personal lives. (I'm quite nosey!) My favourites at the moment are Becca Hall and Frances Ives.

I'm far too shy to join the live zooms but when it's available I'll watch the replay from the safety of timelapse!

I like some of the new changes but still not the friendly platform to use! I am patron of Becca Hall :) I really like her content specially the Advanced Techniques and how she test and try the materials. I hear a lot of good things of Frances Ives patreon, definitely need to have a look.

Can totally understand the shyness Jess, same club here :D thank you for commenting ❤️

I hear what you’re saying Theresa! It is so easy to get stuck trying to join and do too many things at once. At this stage I can manage to join one, maybe two zoom drawing sessions a month as I much prefer going out to draw with people in real life. But maybe, now that it is winter I will join some more since I’ll be drawing outside much less.

And yes, the platform can be so frustrating! Especially if you want to go into the archives of a specific patreon.

Thank you Nino for commenting and sharing your opinion :) yes, it's easy to get overwhelmed with so many events, I am trying to be more organised and selective too! Ohh searching archives on Patreon is quite a drama 😆

This is so interesting to read, thank you Teresa! I have only tried one Patreon - Orange Beak Studio Picture Book Club, I liked the content a lot but the site is a bit confusing! I do get FOMO seeing all the great work people make from Patreon's 😂 but you are right, it's not necessary to join them all!

I heard very good things about the Orange Break Studio in general, must be a nice Patreon for picture book content. And YES the FOMO is a real thing, it happens to me too, we must be strong not to let it affect us 🤭Thank you for commenting Nanette!

Teresa, I've got to know your Patreon suggestions! Youve mentioned 2 or 3 I haven't heard of!!! I belong to 8 (🤭😵🤑), 2 are cancelling this month. I've also cancelled a few in the past almost year that I've been on there!

At the moment, I'm subscribing 5 patreons (+ Introvert Drawing Club here on Substack) and Puapualena's patreon is still one of my favourites, love her style and my way of drawing goes in a similar direction I think! But I always peep in new ones from time to time to see if I like :) there are so many out there to try! Curious to know which patreons do you like, if you want to share Courtney 😊

Ok, I just typed out a long list of my Patreon's, but I can't find it?!?! Let me know if you ever see it. I don't know where it could have gone?!!!

I've no idea where did your list end up 🤔 sorry for the work Courtney. Substack is a world, sometimes I see notifications popping in and afterwards can't find them...so weid!!! 🙄

Ok, I am a member of Blueshine Art, Ella Ruth, Emma Carlisle, Erika Lamar, La Scarlatte, Katie Moody, shivam Choudhary, Sophie McPike, and Victoria Semykina. 2 of these are ending this month. I might d/c another 1 or 2 here soon. Some I won't waiver on and will keep as long as possible!

Right now, I'm member of Puapualena, Emma Carlisle, Katie Moody, TJ Marston and Bina Tangerina (this last one is a portuguese artist, but her posts are written in Portuguese & English). I'm very curious about Victoria Semykina patreon 🤩 might join to try but i think 5 patreons is the number that I can manage in terms of money and also to practice so hard decisions bc some of these 5 I don't want to leave 😆 artists always have "big" dramas in their lives, right? Have a nice weekend Courtney ❤️

This is written, of course, with all due respect, but Victoria's is one I'm cancelling this month. I love her work! But on Patreon I'm looking for artists that are active and do some sort of 'teaching'. I may not of given her channel enough time and may revisit one day.
